2011 Australian Schools/School Sport Australia Orienteering Championships 4th and 5th October 2011 Wagga, NSW

All States, Territories and New Zealand are cordially invited to contest the 2011 Australian Secondary Schools/School Sport Australia Orienteering Championships organised by Wagga and Riverina Occasional Orienteers on behalf of Orienteering New South Wales.

The 2011 Australian Secondary Schools/School Sport Australia Orienteering Championships will be held in conjunction with the 2011 Oceania Carnival.

2. Arrival. All teams need to arrive at Friday night’s accommodation sometime on Friday 30th September. For location see details of accommodation.

3. Departure. Departure will be on Sunday 9th October after the Oceania Relays. These will be 1.5 hours from Canberra.

4. Travel Arrangements. All teams are to make their own travel arrangements both to the carnival and during the carnival.

5. Accommodation. As outlined at the Easter meeting ALL teams are to stay in the organised accommodation from Friday 30th September to Sun 9th October inclusive.

There will be three locations for accommodation.

A. From Friday 30th Sept to Sun 2nd Oct all teams will be accommodated at ValleyHomestead, Great Alpine Road, Ovens. http://www.valleyhomestead.com.au/

Ovens is 50 km south east from Wangaratta and 74km south west from Albury. Driving time from Melbourne is 3.5 hours. All meals provided and linen and doona’s supplied. No towels supplied.

B. From Mon 3rd Oct to Wed 5th Oct all teams will be accommodated at Borambola Sport and Recreation Centre 25km east of Wagga http://www.dsr.nsw.gov.au/borambola/

C. From Thurs 6th Oct to Sat 8th Oct all teams will be accommodated at SnowyMountains Coach and Motor Inn, Berridale.

Berridale is 33km west of Cooma and 30km east of Jindabyne.

Breakfast and Dinner provided- no lunch. Linen and towels supplied.

6. Entries Team managers are to complete the entries for all their team members for the Australian Schools Individual Championships and Australian Schools Relay Championships on the attached forms. These must be submitted no later than Friday 2nd September. Payment for these events and for accommodation must have been completed by this date to the Oceania Carnival account. Details for this will be supplied in next Bulletin in late July.  Entries for ALL events other than Australian Schools Individual Championships and Australian Schools Relay Championships MUST be made online at http://www.oceania2011.asn.au/home/

*** The Australian Relay Championships are on the same day as the Australian Schools Relay Championships. ALL members of State School teams can only compete in the Australian Schools Relay. Therefore any school team member should not enter the Australian Relay Championships. ***

7. Costs Event levy $60 ( includes event entry fees, disco, prizes, other event costs)  per student

8. Start Draw The Start Draw for the Australian Schools Individual event will take place at 5:00pm Monday 3rd October at Borambola Sport and Recreation Centre.

9. Presentation Dinner. The Presentation Dinner will take place on Wednesday 5th Oct at Borambola Sport and Recreation Centre. This will be followed by a disco.
